About Me

head shots 1Hi! I’m Rebecca, but most people call me Beckie. I like that I have the option of using two names. It must be the writer in me.

Here are a few of my favorite things: God, my husband, my family, my dear friends, books, writing, cats, coffee, jogging (coffee comes before jogging!), naps ( I need one after jogging!), and being silly.

In addition to being a wife and mom, I am a Christian writer. I have written children’s magazine stories and articles, as well as devotions and studies. I am currently writing a young adult novel and children’s picture book.

I have been married to my husband, Scott for twenty-eight years. We have three wonderful grown-up children. I can honestly say that Jesus is the center of my life, but it wasn’t always this way.

I gave my life to Jesus at twelve years old because I didn’t want to go to hell. I went to church and called myself a Christian for years. It wasn’t until my early twenties that I realized something was missing. I was depressed, insecure and lonely despite being a Christian and having what appeared to be a wonderful life. Of course, I didn’t tell anyone this. I needed to keep up the “I’m-a-good-Christian-church-going-woman” appearance.

One day I got tired of pretending. It was then that I gave my whole life over to Jesus—my depression, insecurities and all. That is where transformation started and is continuing to this day. I admit that I don’t have it all together. But I love the Lord and His word. He has grown a passion in me to write down some of the things He has so graciously taught me. I don’t have a theology degree. In fact, my love for the Word started by reading a children’s bible to my sons and daughter and grew from there.

    • Aww, thanks so much, Brian! Hey, I’m a work in progress (with the Lord’s help). We all have things we’re working on, right?
Thanks, for taking the time to encourage me today and for reading.
Blessings to you as you endeavor to grow closer and more like Christ! Remember, we aren’t doing this thing alone. “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” Philippians 2:13 NLT
Isn’t that amazing! God’s Spirit is working inside of us helping us have the DESIRE and the POWER to do what pleases HIM. That word “power” in the Greek (the language this was first written in) is “dunamis” and is likened to our word for dynamite. Wow! So, with that kind of power available to us, we CAN become more and more like Jesus. “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.” Ephesians 3:20
